Rutut Modan est née en 1966 à Tel Aviv, Israël. En 1995, elle co-fonde “Actus Independent Comics”. Son livre “Exit wounds” a été récompensé en 2008 par le Prix Eisner ainsi que le Prix Essentiel d’Angoulême. Elle a publié un blog illustré, proposé sur le site internet du New York Times. Rutu a été élue en tant qu’artiste par la Fondation d’Israël de l’excellence culturelle (Icexcellence). Elle enseigne la bande dessinée et l’illustration à l’Académie Bezalel d’art et de design de Jérusalem.
